FAQs – Clients Looking for an Advisor

Will this service let me search for and find an advisor?
Our questionnaire lets you evaluate advisors you find. We don’t find financial advisors for you; we help you evaluate the ones you locate. You provide the contact information for the advisors you want to learn more about and we email them the questionnaire.
There are many articles that show me the “top questions to ask your financial advisor,” so what makes AdvisorFit different?
We’ve created the most thorough financial advisor questionnaire we are aware of, but what really makes us different and critical to evaluating an advisor is that we analyze the advisor’s answers. You can ask all the right questions but if you can’t make sense of the answers then it won’t help you very much.
What is the purpose of the questionnaire?
The questionnaire can be used as part, not all, of the process of evaluating a financial advisor. You should still do a background check and call references, but the questionnaire asks detailed questions about the advisor — his background, experience, firm, and compensation – that will provide you with information you need to make a good decision.
Is there a fee for using this service?
No. We don’t charge the clients looking for an advisor or the advisors. The service is completely free for everyone.
Should I send the questionnaire to an advisor I’m already working with?
Absolutely. Even though you may have been working with your advisor for some time, the questionnaire lets you discover things you may not be aware of. The more informed you are the better.

FAQs – Advisors

I received an email asking me to complete a questionnaire. What should I do?
If you received an email it means a prospect has found you and would like to learn more about you and your services. In order to get to know you better, they would like you to complete a questionnaire we’ve created. Once you complete this questionnaire, it will be evaluated and made available to the prospect.
How does AdvisorFit “analyze” my answers to the questionnaire?
Based on how you answer certain questions, our rule-based software will provide an explanation of the answer and/or issues for the prospect to consider. For example, if you answer that you’ve been convicted of a felony, our analysis will identify this as a red flag and strongly encourage the prospect to consider finding another advisor to evaluate.
Is there a fee for using this service?
No. We don’t charge the clients looking for an advisor or the advisors. The service is completely free for everyone.
What if I don’t want to share this information with a prospect?
You can simply choose to ignore the request or you can message the prospect letting them know you are not going to complete the questionnaire.
What if it looks like the prospect is not a good match for me?
That’s fine. As much as this service is designed to help prospects find the right fit with an advisor, we want the advisor to find the right clients as well. You can ignore the request or you can message the prospect letting them know you are not a good fit for their needs.
